“You may forget with
whom you laughed, but you will never forget with whom you wept.”
--Carrie O’ Leary
This page offers a wide array of help, information, forms, LINKS,
support, and a place for sharing for migraine
sufferers and for those who love them. Migraines are terrible to endure and are
really a disease. Often times
some doctors, people at work, schools, and the general public
don’t realize how bad migraines can be. I have
provided this web-page to help as much as I can. Not only am I an occasional migrainer, but
my daughter is a
severe chronic migraine sufferer.
My advice to sufferers and to those who love them is not to give up on
finding relief. If your doctor
doesn’t take
you seriously or can’t seem to help, find another who will.

Overview:
For centuries, doctors have tried to find effective ways to treat chronic pain,
a devastating neurological
disorder that affects almost 90 million Americans. A new study shows
that two proteins in the brain trigger the
neuronal changes that amplify and sustain this type of pain. The finding
may lead to new ways of treating chronic pain.

* Disability:
When migraine stops you Migraine is a potentially disabling
neurological disorder for which there is no cure. The severe pain and
other symptoms leave severely affected
Migraineurs unable to
function in everyday situations. Unfortunately, it is an invisible disability
for which there is no definitive.

Advocacy
* Advocacy Issues Affecting Those with Headaches and Migraines.
Those of us with headache and Migraines are faced by some of the same
issues as other chronic pain patients
and some that are a bit different.
Whether we're talking about patient rights in general or the ongoing
battle with insurance companies over unacceptable triptan
limitations, this is the place for information. To
succeed, we must all speak out. We'll show you how.

Disease
One
of the problems people with headache disorders and Migraine disease have when
it comes to disability
issues is that ours are invisible diseases. Still, we have rights under
the Americans With Disabilities Act,
the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and others. Use these resources
to research and encourage you.

Adolescents, ages 12-17, who suffer from Migraine disease and Cluster head aches now have a new
abortive tool in their
arsenal as September 1 marked the launch of a new abortive
medication. Adult Migraineurs and cluster head ache
sufferers have long benefited from the use of Imigran (aka Imitrex, suma
triptan) 20 mg nasal spray. Now Imigran 10mg
Nasal Spray has been licensed for use by adolescents, making it the
first and only triptan class medication approved for
patients in this age range. Hopefully, Imigran 10mg Nasal Spray will be
approved and introduced in other countries soon.

When your child has a chronic illness, whether it's headaches, Migraines, or a different illness entirely, we really can't afford to put off getting our children ready for school. There are extra steps that need to be taken; extra preparations that need to be made. In the Miss America scholarship pageant program, they have a motto. They call it "the Ps..." |
